I Am Working. I Promise.

It may seem as though I am ignoring this blog. That is not the case. I promise. I have actually been quite busy on behalf of this blog. Not only that, I have been reading like mad. I just haven’t had time to write anything up. So, I am going to list all of the things I have been doing and all of the books I have read. The reviews of said books will come very soon.

  • Redesigning this entire web site. Now that I am actually getting freelance gigs, it seems kind of silly that my blog and professional website are combined. So, my plan is to separate the two, which means TWO new designs. It also means hours of reorganizing files. So it has been a fairly tedious process.
  • Looking for interesting book blogs. I love reading what other people have to say about books. Since I don’t watch Oprah, book blogs it is. I will soon be updating my links to reflect some of the very cool blogs and websites I’ve found over the past few months.
  • Journaling. I know that journaling doesn’t seem like it’s related to this blog in any real way. But, I have found that keeping a journal helps me write more cohesive posts. Writing is like playing an instrument. I have to practice if I want to get better at it.

And now the books….

Here are some of the books I plan to review for this site. Right now, I’ve only got rough outlines and notes for each book. So, the reviews will be coming, it just may take a little while.

The Color Purple by Alice Walker.
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Blubber by Judy Blume
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle.
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison.
Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes.
Brave New World by Aldus Huxley.
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
Private Parts by Howard Stern

Now, these are not all of the books that I plan to actually review for this site. These are just the ones that are on the banned or challenged list. I’ve got the notes for them, I just need the time to sit down and write the reviews. So technically, I am keeping with the challenge in that I am reading the books. I just have no proof because I haven’t reviewed them here.

But, that will change soon my friends. My feverish little brain is working on a plan to knock a few of them out this weekend. I just have to let go of working on my redesign for a few days.
